Hybrid Cars Coming to Pakistan
With the increasing prices of CNG and Petrol, people are falling short of alternatives that are affordable and feasible. In the midst of this problem, Government is continuously trying to discourage the new CNG cars. In the fiscal budget of 2012 there is one such incentive that has gone un-noticed so far. Ministry of Industries has exempted Hybrid cars from all type of taxes (withholding taxes, Sales tax, and custom duty).
Business Recorder has reported that the government has reduced duty on import of hybrid cars by 25 percent in fiscal budget of 2012. The top three hybrid cars are Corolla, Ford Focus and Toyota Prius. The utility of hybrid cars can be verified with the fact that Toyota Aqua gives 35 km/liter and Toyota prius gives 25-27 km/litre.
